2014 Riesling 750ml
This white wine has a medium straw color with aromas of melons, sweet and tart apples, slight apricot and floral honey. The fresh crispness in the finish creates a great balance with the layers of fruit characters. It is a fresh white wine that can be spectacular with a variety of holiday foods as well as wonderful to enjoy on a sunny, crisp Fall day. It could be paired with turkey, ham, seafood, a wide range of fruits and mild cheeses – plus it works nicely with your pumpkin pie and fresh whipped cream.
The grapes are produced in Lake County, the home of Clear Lake and the region directly north of Napa. Clear Lake is one of the largest natural lakes in California and considered the oldest in North America. This very large lake creates a climatic condition that is perfect for many grape varieties. The position of the vineyard provides warm sunny days, but nights that are very cool, which is what the Riesling grape craves. This allows the fruit to mature and have a proper balance between ripe fruit character and an excellent acidic backbone. The fruit for this wine was hand picked at a point where it was mature and balanced so as to produce a wine that is complex and not overpowered by any one component. The grapes were crushed, pressed, and cold settled. Fermentation of the clarified juice was conducted in stainless steel vessels and the fermentation was kept at 55 degrees in order to maintain the fresh fruit characters of the wine.
